Our early years setting is called Playdays Early Years, it is for children aged from two to preschool. Being under the governance of Longlevens Junior School (LJS) ensures a strong early years educational focus. We are passionate about enabling all our children to reach their potential. The children enjoy a mix of free flow play based on their own interests, exploration of our lovely and extensive outside environments including Forest School. We are a Thrive based setting and we use this therapeutic approach based around current studies of effective learning and current models of child development to encourage the children with their independence, nurture their skills and supporting them to be ready for school.

At Playdays Early Years, your child will be allocated a Key Person who will support both yours and your child's needs. They will build a strong bond with your child during their time with us and help them to feel safe and secure in their new environment. The Key Person is also responsible for building up a Learning Journey for your child. Here at Playdays Early Years we use 'Tapestry' a secure online journal. This will include observations, photographs and art work, as well as a way to helping the staff and families celebrate their childrens learning and development.

We have two different rooms, each of them designed to cater for a different age group, as well as an additional room where children can have quiet time, take part in small group work or take a nap if they need to.

Cubs' Room

This room is specifically designed for 2-3 year olds, with age appropriate activities set up for the children. There is a role play area, a quiet room for relaxation, a space for creative play and construction as well as free flow between inside and outside.

There is a wide variety of activities for children to access; they will still be able to experience natural materials such as sand and water, as well as taking part in construction activities, role play and dressing up. Children will also take part in pre reading activities such as colour and shape recognition via matching and sorting, as well as activities to develop early maths skills such as counting, comparing and number recognition. The children get the chance to go to the local library, learn exciting cooking skills and help to grow fruit and vegetables in the garden as well as visiting Forest School.

 The Garden

The garden here at Longlevens Children's Hub is securely enclosed and offers a range of activities for your child to engage in. There is a wonderful vegetable patch, a mud pit.....and with the help of some keen and willing mum's, we are now putting together a bug hotel, bird feeders and hedgehog dens.
